Vishing a New Take on Old Scam

It's one of the latest breakthroughs in telecommunications--Voice Over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, which enables phone calls over the web. Unfortunately some criminals have embraced the technology to hijack identities and steal money. Their techniques are called "vishing" and here's how it works.
 

While the information can include potentially anything about the individual's employment, credit, or past history, the most common usage of background checks refers to criminal records.
