Banks in the U.S. were robbed or broken into nearly 20 times a day in 2006, according to our Bank Crime Statistics report. The report, which covers robberies, burglaries, and larcenies, shows there were 7,272 reported incidents last year, and more than million in stolen loot.
While the information can include potentially anything about the individual's employment, credit, or past history, the most common usage of background checks refers to criminal records.
